Test Equipment for Reviews

I quite often have been sent to work away from home and when that happens I can't give much useful feedback on picture and sound quality, unless problems are startlingly obvious because the discs are watched on a laptop:

Dell EliteBook 6930p w. 1280x800 resolution 'wide format' screen
running:
InterVideo WinDVD
AnyDVD (to bypass region lock problems and 'non-skipable' trailers)
VSO Inspector (if I need to check the region coding of the disc)

I plug in a pair of Sennheiser CX-400 'ear canal' headphones if it's getting a bit late.

This is one reason I watch a lot of classic TV; it doesn't lose so much when played on a laptop compared to a modern TV.

However for Blu-Rays, and at other times when I am working closer to home (such as at present) my system for watching discs is:

Panasonic 42" G15 Plasma TV
Sony BDP-360 Blu-Ray player (not multi-region, connected to TV via HDMI)
DVD player (multi-region back up, connected to TV via SCART)
Pioneer VSX-C301 slimline AV receiver (DTS capable, not HDMI so Blu-Ray player connected through digital for sound)
5.1 surround speaker system comprising:
  5 * B&W VM1 speaker
  1 * AS1 subwoofer
Sennheiser RS-120 open-back, wireless headphones for when I can't have the sound up
Large gin & tonic

The surround sound amp  is a little dated (as are the speakers for that matter but they're excellent quality) and I'd obviously prefer one that had HDMI inputs/outputs but it still seems to do the job!
